Update

Sorry it’s been a while since I have updated. I have messed about with my settings and removed the log in button from my site and now I cannot figure out how to log in again. I am using Scribefire to post this.

So anyway, last month I decided to move back to my home city of Chattanooga, TN. After a little searching on the net I was able to secure a job with T-Mobile and I am now just waiting for the background check to be completed before they will make me an official offer. I feel confident I will be offered a rather high pay rate given my 4 years experience in the wireless industry. Their interview process is probably one of the most intense I have ever encountered, with question after question and role playing a large part of it. I spent an hour and a half on the phone for it.

November 28th is “D” day. I will be on the road and will stay with my baby sister and my 2 young nephews until I get a place. My baby sister runs the apartment complex she lives in so she is holding a 1 bedroom for me. Rent is cheap there, a one bedroom goes for $400/month, that includes water and basic cable.

So, wish me luck. It’s a big step I am taking and I hope I don’t fall off a cliff, but I believe this is something I need to do. I miss my childhood home.

Typhoon Tools Desktop Wallpaper Manager

I have been looking for some time for a program that will change my desktop automatically at intervals. I finally found such a program at http://www.typhoontools.com .

Download the launcher and it sits in your system tray. You can download hundreds of wallpapers for free from the site and choose which ones to use, how often to change the wallpaper and other options. It is a small program and seems to be free of any spyware. Check it out.

Verizon Settles ETF Lawsuit

Star Wars™ Costumes

Verizon has settled the class action lawsuit in California concerning early termination fees (ETF). Not only that, but they have extended eligibility to the entire USA. If you were charged an ETF between 1999 and 2008, you may make a claim here. If the company cannot find your information you will be awarded the default amount of $25. However, if you have the paperwork showing the ETF charged, you can mail it in and receive a full refund. Don’t expect a check until the middle of next year at the earliest.

What is Your Legacy?

Your kids, your portfolio?  What is your legacy?   Webster’s Dictionary defines the word as “anything handed down from the past, as from an ancestor or predecessor”, but I believe it is more than that.  Building a legacy is more than making money and obtaining material things.  It’s the passion, the hard work, the ability to put money second and building yourself first.  1 million friends is worth more than 1 million dollars.  Present yourself to everyone you meet in a way that lets them know that you are now thier friend.  You may never see them again in your life but that person will remember you for the rest of thiers and pass that legacy on to others, who will then do the same and your legacy, or brand will grow expopentially.  Be pasionate about whatever you do.  Weather you run your own business or work for someone else, use yourself as a window to bring people into your circle.  Passion is the key, be passionate about making friends.  Those friends will make other friends and so on.  When you are passionate about what you do, the finaces will follow.  The big picture always wins, it’s not even close.

Jury Duty

I got a jury duty notice in the mail yesterday.  Some people dread this letter and hope they never get chosen, others won’t even register to vote simply because they do not want to be a juror.

For me, this is an essential part of being an American.  It is the only way our judicial system can ensure fair trials.  While I do not look forward to having to take unpaid time away from my job, I will not make up excuses or try to get out of my duty as an American.  I believe in the system and will do what I can to ensure that everyone receives a fair and impartial trial by a jury of their peers.

I also consider it a learning experience and a chance to see the judicial system up close and be a part of it.  So, I will dress nicely, go to the courthouse, swear in and listen to the cases that will be heard for the week.  If I am chosen as a juror I will consider it a privilege and honor.

I encourage all Americans to look at Jury Duty as I do.  A learning experience and the chance to be a part of something that helped build our Country to what it is today. It is not something that was created to inconvienence you, it is something that is fundamental to the way our Country works, by the people and for the people.
